Oscar Reactions '06
Well the Oscars have come and gone and once again I was near perfect in my predictions. Usually when I'm wrong with Oscar predictions, I'm unpleasantly surprised like in 1999 when SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE upset SAVING PRIVATE RYAN for Best Picture. But this year, the much more deserved CRASH upset BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN for Best Picture and I couldn't be more pleasantly surprised. I went eight for nine in the big awards and the one I incorrectly predicted went to my possible upset and should win selection. The only other upset I noticed was MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA upsetting BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN in the Cinematography Category. Jon Stewart did a very good job with what little time he had but the awards themselves were very boring and there were way too many video montages that no one should care about. So to sum up I went eight for nine in predictions, the ninth award went to my possible upset and should win selection, and the Academy agreed with me in four out of nine categories.
So any of you that doubt my powers should now be shaking in your boots. In the past year, I've correctly predicted the 2005 Oscars, the 2005 Major League Baseball postseason for the National League Champion Astros (though I wish it had ended differently), the 2006 Rose Bowl, Super Bowl XL and got 94% on my predictions for the 2006 Oscars (8/9 does equal 89% but since my one wrong prediction went to my upset selection, I gave myself a half so divide 8.5 by 9).
